To mBa or not to mBa... that is the question.

Been thinking of slowly evolving to bringing my own business idea to life. My ideas aren't solid yet and good thing is i'm in no hurry (to perform miracles).

Then I had a very interesting and inspirational conversation with one of my dad's friend's wife. She advised me to seriously consider doing an MBA. She listed most of the pros to this idea (but no cons whatsoever... but you and I know tuition is a bit of a con). She explained how every career path is a BUSINESS venture: studying medicine/ working in a hospital; being an engineer/ working at or on a site; being a financial consultant/ working in a financial institute; etc.

This does sound like a fabulous idea, however am I ready for it? Don't I need to know where I am going career-wise before I plunge into getting an MBA? I understand I can work anywhere with an MBA, but am I really guaranteed job security when I come back home to work (yes! my MBA would probably be in the States... yaaay! missed YOU too : p lol)?

Personally, I would rather just go with the flow of things. Keep working/ looking for a suitable job that would build me up... Cross that bridge when I get to it.

What do you think? Have I gotten to that bridge yet?

That won't hinder you starting your business ASAP,even with the ideas you think are not yet 'big'

    1. Hmmm...good point.
But it's not just the idea of going to business school that's apprehends me. I'm wondering if it matters that I should ve a plan (which I do not yet) for after business school before going in.

  2. Well true that, thought your plan was for you to really go into your own business after mba,and in lagos business school, there is an internship in a nigerian company, which would give u an insight into the nigerian business terrain. (P.S-i don't work for or in any way know the owners of lagos business school)

    1. Yes. That has taken a backseat right now (as I am also not getting any younger).
My business mind right now will still like to impact my community however I'm not too sure if getting an MBA is totally necessary (to succeed in this Nigeria)
