It went down last Saturday. It REALLY went down.
The charitable event I made mention of earlier took place on the 23rd of February, 2013. About 17 of us, bravely, traveled down to a little community in Ikota, to spread some 'Valentine' cheer (that's right! Show love anyways...just because).
It was comforting to give, however a bit saddening that people live in such bad conditions. Poverty isn't only the lack of; it is also the selfish act of not wanting to share what should conveniently go round. Simply put: Scarcity Mentality.
Bottom line is, I'm just glad a number of us were about to give back to our community. A community which was in a way part of our upbringing.
I won't bore you too much with words. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Welcome to your virtual presence at the Ikota Outreach.
And then,
If you'll like to be a part of this movement, either by volunteering your time or making any form of donations, we will be more than happy to welcome and accommodate you.
<Proverbs 22:9>
Thank you (in advance).

And then,
What each bag-pack contained |
Van-full of good tidings |
The distribution commences |
Some excited residents |
The children's line |
The women/ mother's line just kept growing and growing |
We paused for a while to re-strategize, because we knew the bags wouldn't go round |
Then we came up with the idea of emptying the school bags so everyone in line had a bit of something |
>:d< We put SMILES :) on faces #xoxo >:d< |
Part of the 'Helping-hands' team =d> |
Amen!!! |
Had to get my piece of the cake too :p |
God bless us all (Amen) o:) |
